For the first time in the four years that FORBES has been tracking Africa’s richest, Nigeria beats South Africa as the country with most of the continent’s wealthiest.
The list focuses on the top 50 with Nigeria taking 13 of the top spots followed by South Africa with 11. The minimum net worth required to join this group is $510 million, with the average net worth being $2.2 billion.
Nigeria’s Aliko Dangote takes the top spot with a net worth of $21.6 billion, and the only women making the group being Isabel dos Santos of Angola at number 8 with a net worth of $3.7 billion and Nigeria’s Folurunsho Alakija at number 12 with $2.5 billion
